Macson’s journey began in 1982, when John McCormick, drawing on 10 years of motor trade experience, identified a consistent demand for reliable auto bulbs. He launched Macson Lamps to address this need, initially supplying bulbs to motorcycle shops and garages across the North West of England—some of which Macson still serves to this day. During the company’s early years, John partnered with Bernard Senior, who ran a similar operation in the North East of England. This partnership led to the distinctive name, “Macsen.” In 1983, following Bernard’s retirement, John unified the two regions, creating a foundation for Macson’s strong reputation for quality and dependability across the UK.
Today, Macson remains dedicated to delivering premium quality auto bulbs and cables and auto electrical products with a focus on customer satisfaction.
In 2023, we updated our trading name to “Macson” to reflect the extensive range of products we now offer. The “sen” in “Macsen” (from Bernard Senior) has changed to “son,” as John’s son, Paul, plays a significant role in running the business.
